Lazy Cabbage Rolls with Rice, Sauerkraut, and Bacon
Pour 1 cup of water into the bottom. Layer the reserved large cabbage leaves on top. Arrange the cabbage rolls on top of the cabbage leaves. Pour the tomato juice over top. Set the Instant Pot to Manual with Low Pressure for 30 minutes. Allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes then release the pressure.. Grease casserole dish. Place 1 Tbsp of filling on widest end of leaf. Fold sides in and roll up. Filling should not be hanging out. Place in casserole dish creating layers. Combine water and oil and pour over cabbage rolls. Cover with lid or tinfoil. Bake in a 325°F oven 2 – 21/2 hours.

Make the filling and form the cabbage rolls. Combine the ground pork, rice, browned onions, 1 ½ teaspoons of salt and ½ teaspoon of pepper in a large bowl. Use your hands to gently mix all ingredients together until the rice, meat and onions are evenly distributed throughout. Divide the filling into 8 equal parts.. Pour enough water to cover holubtsi completely and place the pot on the stove. Add a bay leaf and let the dish simmer for 30 minutes. Step 6: Carefully transfer holubtsi from the pot to a baking dish or casserole. Pour the tomato sauce over them and place the dish in a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) for 20-30 minutes.
